13 April 2016 – The Filipino Association in Russia (FAR), the oldest Filipino organization in Russia, opened this year’s sports league dubbed as “Palarong Pinoy”. It was held at the Park Pobedy Gym in Moscow on April 03.

Philippine Ambassador to the Russian Federation Carlos D. Sorreta, attended the opening ceremony. In his remarks, Ambassador Sorreta lauded FAR’s initiative to bring together the growing Filipino community in Moscow through sports. “The Embassy supports Palarong Pinoy because it contributes to our efforts aimed at strengthening the sense of camaraderie and unity of the growing Filipino community in Russia”, Ambassador Sorreta said.

Five (5) volleyball teams are vying for the championship trophies at the 2016 FAR Palarong Pinoy. The tournament will run for 3 Sundays ending on April 17. END
