17 March 2016 – The Philippine Embassy in Moscow joined the Filipino community in Russia in celebrating the 4th foundation anniversary of BIBAK-Russia (Benguet, Ifugao, Bontoc, Apayao, Kalinga), which was held at the Embassy on March 13.
Philippine Ambassador to the Russian Federation Carlos D. Sorreta led the ceremony lauding BIBAK members for their strong sense of community and pride in their cultural heritage – one of the richest, oldest, and most unique in the Philippines. He reaffirmed the Embassy’s continued support to BIBAK’s initiatives in Russia.
In the spirit of unity and camaraderie, members of other Filipino organizations joined BIBAK in an afternoon of dance and music showcasing the genius of the peoples of the Cordilleras. The organizations represented were Filipino Association in Russia, Abra Highlanders, Baguio Support Group, Atin ‘To, Samahan ng Magkakaibigan at Barkada(SMB) and Bicol Saro.
Elections for the 2016-2017 BIBAK officers were conducted at the sidelines. After which, the newly-elected officers, headed by Ms. Crispina Payocong, took their oath of office administered by Third Secretary and Vice Consul Luningning G. Camoying. END
