30 June 2015 - National Security Council (NSC) Deputy Director General (DDG) Vicente M. Agdamag highlighted the Philippines’ recent success in its anti-terrorism campaign at the recently concluded 6th International Meeting of High-Level Officials Responsible for Security Matters held from June 23 to 25 in Ulan-Ude Russian Federation. In his intervention at said meeting, DDG Agdamag stated that the neutralization of international terrorist Zulkifli bin Hir (alias Marwan) and his local cohorts earlier this year in Maguindanao sent a very strong signal to terrorist groups that the Philippines is not a safe haven. He further stressed that a responsive national legal framework and close cooperation among national security establishments are key in an effective anti-terrorist operation.
This high-level meeting is organized by the Security Council of the Russian Federation annually. This year’s edition tackled global terrorism and water security issues. It gathered together more than 60 delegations from Asia, Africa, Latin America, and Europe.
The Philippine delegation was composed of NSC DDG Agdamag, Philippine Ambassador to Russia Carlos D. Sorreta, Third Secretary Luningning G. Camoying of the Philippine Embassy in Moscow, and NSC Special Assistant Maria Antonina S. Leong. END
