30 June 2015 – Philippine Ambassador to the Russian Federation Carlos D. Sorreta, together with Mr. Jeffrey Valdez, Economic Officer, attended the annual St. Petersburg Economic Forum (SPIEF) from June 18 to 20 at the LenExpo Exhibition Center.
Billed as the “Davos of Russia”, SPIEF gathers thousands of policy and decision makers from the public and private sectors to deliberate pressing global and regional economic issues. It attracts Heads of States and Governments, CEOs, and other influential leaders. This year is the 19th incarnation of the forum. Since 2007, it has been held under the auspices of the Russian President.
Among the notable participants this year are Greek Prime Minster Alexis Tsipras, former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, and former Japanese Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama. Representing the private sector are CEOs of Shell, Total, BP and GE, among others. Russian President Vladimir Putin addressed the plenary session. END
