19 October 2016 – Russia’s top Philippine expert Professor Elena Frolova delivered a lecture on Philippine culture and history at the State Darwin Museum in Moscow on October 13. The audience was composed of Russian students, museum-goers, and some members of the Filipino community in Moscow.
Prof. Frolova is Senior Professor on Philippine Philology at the prestigious Institute of Asian and African Studies of the Moscow State University (IAAS-MSU). Established in 1956, the IAAS is considered as one of the leading centers for the study of Asian and African languages, history, economics, and social studies in Russia. It currently teaches more than 40 languages, including Filipino. Many of its alumni now serve in key positions in the Russian government, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and international organizations.
The lecture titled“The Philippines: A Miracle of Nature and Culture”is part of a yearlong commemorative program on the occasion of the 40thAnniversary of Philippines-Russia diplomatic relations and 20 years of Russia-ASEAN Dialogue.
The event was initiated by the Embassy of the Philippine in Moscow in cooperation with the State Darwin Museum in Moscow and IAAS-MSU. END
