27 June 2016 - The 2016 Summer Sports League organized by the Samahan ng Magkakaibigan at Barkada (SMB), one of the Filipino organizations in Russia, successfully ended on June 19.
Consul General Melchor P. Lalunio, Jr. of the Philippine Embassy graced the awarding ceremony held at the Meteor Gym near historic Park Pobedy in Moscow. In his remarks, he congratulated SMB for the initiative of bringing together the Filipino community through friendly sports competition. He likewise recognized the positive role played by the Filipino community in the celebration of the 118th Anniversary of the Proclamation of Philippine Independence on June 12 and other Embassy activities.
The championship trophies were won by SMB for basketball and Unica Hija for volleyball. This year’s tournament attracted 16 teams from the burgeoning Filipino community in Moscow. END
