21 April 2016 – As part of its efforts to promote greater participation in overseas voting (OV) in Russia, the Philippine Embassy in Moscow sent a team to St. Petersburg on April 16 to 17 where 45 registered voters cast their votes. Five others picked up their ballots and promised to return them to the Philippine Embassy in Moscow before the deadline on May 09.
The OV voting center was opened by the Philippine Embassy Team at the office of the Honorary Consul General of the Philippines in St. Petersburg, which is in a business and exhibition complex that is easily accessible to the public. Before sending the OV Team to St. Petersburg, the Philippine Embassy had posted announcements through social media and directly contacted registered voters to remind them to vote.
The OV Team was composed of Consul General Melchor P. Lalunio, Jr.; Marites A. Saberola, Chairperson of the Special Ballot Reception Custody Group (SBRCG); and Teofe P. Del Mundo, SBRCG member. END
