31 March 2016 –The Philippines once again participated in the Moscow International Travel and Tourism (MITT) exhibition from 23 to 26 March at the ExpoCentre Fairgrounds, Moscow, as part of the Department of Tourism’s ongoing marketing promotion campaign in Russia. The Philippine delegation, headed by Hon. Arturo Boncato, Jr., Assistant Secretary, Tourism Regulation, Coordination and Resource Generation of the Department of Tourism (DOT), was composed of representatives from the DOT, Philippine travel and tour operators as well as representatives of hotels and resorts.
Joining the Philippine tourism delegation were representatives from the Philippine Congress headed by Hon. Arthur R. Defensor, Jr., Representative, Third District of Iloilo.
On March 23, Ambassador Sorreta hosted a welcome dinner for the visiting delegation at the Ambassador’s Residence. A presentation on increased tourism opportunities in Russia was also given by Mr. Jeffrey Angelo Valdez, the Embassy’s Economic Officer.
The MITT is an annual tourism exhibition in Moscow and one of the top five travel exhibitions in the world by attendance. This year’s event was participated in by 1,852 exhibitors from 192 countries. END\
