30 March 2016 – The Tarlac State University Performing Dance Troupe participated in the 2016 World Artistic Dance Federation-European Championship held at the Korston Hotel-Moscow from March 19 to 20. The group won several awards in the Ethno Dance Championship Show category for their riveting performance of Philippine folk dances such as maglalatik, uyaoy and tinikling.
The World Artistic Dance Federation is a Swedish association which aims to develop and promote international artistic dance competitions. In 2014, the WADF European Dance Championship was launched to provide a venue for non-professional dancers around the world to meet fellow dance enthusiasts and discover new opportunities and skills in dancing.
On March 21, the TSU Performing Dance Troupe paid a courtesy visit to the Embassy, where they were awarded a Certificate of Recognition by Philippine Ambassador to the Russian Federation Carlos D. Sorreta for their outstanding participation and representation of the Philippines at the WADF European Championship Show.
The group was accompanied by TSU officials namely Mrs. Armee N. Rosal, Vice President for Student Affairs, Dr. Rex I. Igoy, Director, Guidance and Counselling Center-Office of Student Affairs; and Prof. Marcelino P. Balanquit, Director, Culture and the Arts-Office of Student Affairs. END
