14 December 2015 – Philippine Ambassador to the Russian Federation Carlos D. Sorreta, delivered a lecture on the ASEAN community building process on December 03  at the People’s Friendship University (RUDN) of Russia, in Moscow.

Students from the Department of International Economic Relations engaged Ambassador  Sorreta in a lively exchange of views on the background and recent developments in ASEAN and the differences in regional integration approaches between ASEAN and the European Union.

Also present in the lecture were Prof. I.V. Andronova, Ph.D., and Mr. Alexey Poyda, Executive Secretary of RUDN’s Commission for International Activities.

This initiative is in pursuit of the Embassy’s long-standing thrust of raising awareness among the Russian youth about the Philippines and the ASEAN region by engaging universities, think tanks, and other academic institutions in Russia.

RUDN is one of Russia’s leading higher education institutions. It was established in 1960 with the key objective of helping developing nations in Asia, Africa, and South America in the area of education and training. RUDN boasts of a diverse mix of students coming from 145-150 countries, including the Philippines. END
