14 OCTOBER 2014 – As part of its engagement with the Filipino community, the Philippine Embassy in Moscow headed by H.E. Carlos D. Sorreta extended support to the SMB Sports Autumn League organized by the Samahan ng mga Magkakaibigan at Barkada (SMB) from 23 August to 11 October 2015. The participants included members of different Filipino organizations in Moscow as well as Philippine Embassy personnel and family members.
Ambassador Sorreta lauded SMB’s initiative of bringing together Filipinos in Moscow through sports. He highlighted the important role played by such activities in fostering community unity and camaraderie and general well-being of Filipinos overseas.
Ambassador Sorreta and Mme. Maria Consuelo Sorreta awarded the winners of this year’s tournament in a festive ceremony held on 11 October 2015 at the Park Pobedy Gym in Moscow.
The SMB Sports Autumn League was the 3rd sports activity organized by Filcom organizations in Moscow this year. Previous leagues were initiated by the Filipino Association in Russia (FAR) and Bayanihan ng Bayan ni Juan in April and May 2015, respectively. END.
