MOSCOW - The Philippine Embassy in Moscow hosted a diplomatic reception on 20 July 2015 at the Hotel Metropol in Moscow to celebrate the 117th Anniversary of the Proclamation of Philippine Independence. H.E. Mme. Liudmila Vorobiova, Director of the Third Asian Department of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, was the guest of honor.
In his toast remarks, Philippine Ambassador to the Russian Federation H.E. Carlos D. Sorreta highlighted Philippines’ keen interest to enhance relations with Russia, particularly in the areas of trade, investment, and tourism, in order to sustain the country’s impressive economic performance. Mme. Vorobiova, for her part, stated that Russia is ready to further develop cooperation with the Philippines in various fields emphasizing that a strong Russia-Philippine relations “meets not only the long-term interests of our countries, but also contributes to peace and stability of the Asia Pacific region”.
Guests from the diplomatic community and Russian government agencies, academic and think-tank institutions, and business outfits were treated to a night of Philippine gastronomic delights and music. Philippine traditional desserts, dried mangoes, Tanduay rum and Paradise mango and kalamansi rum liqueurs were served. An all-Filipino band provided entertainment.
