27 May 2014 - Philippine Foreign Service Institute Director Carlos D. Sorreta delivered a paper on “Asia-Pacific Security Developments: Perspective from the Region” at the prestigious Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO) University on May 22. The paper was authored by Dr. Clarita R. Carlos, Professor of Political Science at the University of the Philippines and Executive Director of the Center for Political and Economic Reform, Inc.

The event, co-organized by the Embassy of the Philippines in Moscow and ASEAN Centre in MGIMO headed by Dr. Victor Sumsky, was attended by a group of graduate students and professors from the MGIMO University, Moscow State University, and other academic institutions in Moscow.

After the presentation, Director Sorreta answered questions from the audience on various issues, including the Philippines’ alliance with the United States and its impact on Philippines-Russia relations, ASEAN matters, China’s rise, and Philippines-Russia economic relations, among others. END
